CORPORATE ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST ITHE CORPORATE ENVIRONMETNAL SPECIALIST I WILL Support all Carpenter manufacturing and distribution locations through implementation and continuous improvement of environmental programs, including permit and regulatory compliance, ISO 14001 conformance and sustainability under Carpenter's ESG program.
- Prepare for and conduct internal audits at Carpenter Technology locations for environmental compliance and conformance to ISO 14001
- Manage Sustainability Reporting for the company by collaborating with facility representatives to ensure timely and accurate reporting - review, analyze and verify data reported by sites
- Prepare audit, sustainability and technical reports
- Prepare and administer environmental training to site personnel
- Become proficient in and assist site representatives with permit applications, environmental reports, contingency plans and technical questions
- Learn and understand federal, state and local regulations that are applicable to Carpenter Technology operations, and assist with compliance assurance
- Prepare, administer and ensure conformance to Carpenter policies and procedures
- Present information as needed via digital or in-person settings
- Travel to other sites as needed to provide environmental support
- Other reasonable tasks within the discipline as assigned
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
This position requires an eagerness to learn technical production and engineering applications, to interface in dialogue with operations and engineering to solve problems, to research best solutions/answers for implementation, to teach and assist others, and to work as a team
REQUIREMENTS FOR CORPORATE ENVIRONEMTNAL SPECIALIST I- Bachelor's degree required. Preferably in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering or related field of study.
- 0-2 years of industrial facility environmental compliance work experience.
- Internships working in a manufacturing environment where presented with a problem or challenge and using skills and resources to develop viable solutions.
- Understanding of Environmental Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility for ESG
- Understanding of ISO 14001 or similar continuous improvement systems
- Ability to analyze and summarize/present data
- Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft products including PowerPoint and Excel; MiniTab and Tableau experience is a plus
- Ability to analyze situations and methodically improve performance through development and implementation of plans while collaborating with others
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions in a fast-paced changing environment
- Can work under frequently changing priorities
- Identifies areas of development and takes initiative to develop and implement solutions and remains a generous team player
- Ability to comprehend and apply regulatory and technical information
- Must be willing and able to communicate well verbally and in writing
