DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will be responsible for safeguarding and enhancing the forest resources within the Delaware Forest District, encompassing both public and private lands. This will be achieved through forestry initiatives aimed at maximizing benefits for the citizens of Pennsylvania, emphasizing stewardship, collaboration, and service. Your role will involve supporting the administration and management of wood, water, wildlife, and recreational activities on state forest properties, as well as offering technical guidance for private woodlot management.
You will play a crucial role in identifying, surveying, and managing forest pests affecting both public and private areas. Additionally, you will engage in forest fire prevention and suppression efforts within the district, working to mitigate risks and protect valuable resources. Furthermore, you will provide essential assistance, technical information, and expertise to various agencies and the public. Your contributions will be vital in fostering a collaborative environment that promotes the responsible use and conservation of forest resources, ultimately benefiting the community and the environment alike.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Wednesday, 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- The headquarter location will move to the new Resource Management Center on Route 402 in Porter Township this winter.
- This position may require overtime and travel,
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Swiftwater.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:- Two years of technical forestry experience, and an associate's degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree; or
- A bachelor's degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree; or
- A master's degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Special Requirement: - This position requires possession of a valid PA noncommercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Other Requirements:- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
