Job DescriptionJob Title: AIS Budget Coordinator (Financial Analyst III)
Job Description:If you're a detail-oriented budget and accounting professional with excellent written communication skills - and an affinity for wildlife and the outdoors - this might be the perfect job for you. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is looking for a motivated individual who works well independently and as part of a team who can develop grant proposals, monitor grant funding, and provide budget management and oversight at the programmatic level. The successful applicant will coordinate the budget for Utah's Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) program at the DWR's office in Salt Lake City. The program protects Utah's waterbodies and waterways by stopping the spread of invasive aquatic species, including quagga muscles.
Principle Duties:- Ensure program expenses are managed appropriately
- Communicate with state and federal agencies, partner organizations, and other entities regarding applicable budget and funding issues.
- Help develop, oversee, and evaluate the AIS program budget.
- Provide oversight for program budget, cooperative agreements and contracts.
- Ensure adherence to applicable purchasing policies and procedures.
The Ideal Candidate:- At least 5 years of demonstrated successful work experience in a budget and accounting field.
- A practical understanding of the principles and practices related to public-sector budgets and budget management.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, business management, public administration, an
- applicable natural resource field, or another closely related field.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal communication abilities that help build trust and positive relationships with Division employees, partners, and stakeholders.
- The ability to find creative, pragmatic ways to solve problems and improve processes.

Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Required
- At least three (3) years of demonstrated successful work experience in a budget and accounting field
- Budget management responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse people verbally and in writing
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office and Google Suite software products
Preferred
- An advanced degree in accounting, business management, public administration, an applicable natural resource field, or another closely related field
- Five (5) years of demonstrated successful work experience is a field relevant to the position
Supplemental InformationWorking Conditions:
Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. In addition to typical office risks, this position also includes risks associated with remote work if the successful applicant is authorized to telework.
*Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position 40 hours a week, this position doesn't require work on weekends and evenings due to unexpected circumstances. However, overnight travel may occasionally be required to attend meetings, conferences, and support projects. The DWR's Salt Lake office is the primary duty location for this position, but there is some flexibility for remote work.
