The Work You Will Do:This is an advanced environmental professional position expected to offer new ideas for doing business, evaluate issues and make recommendations to improve operational efficiency, and provide a complete work product timely and in need of minimal editing. This position will:
- Oversee the coordination, review and evaluation of projects under Florida's Power Plant and Transmission Line Siting Acts including site certifications, modifications, and post-certification amendments.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to Department districts and other agencies, prospective applicants, consultants, and the general public on matters related to site certification projects and processes.
- Represent the Department and/or testify at public meetings and administrative hearings.
- Develop guidance documents and training presentations of Siting procedures.
- Evaluate and recommend revision of applicable Siting rules.
- Work closely with the Siting program attorney.

This position works closely with all divisions in the Department, as well as other state and local agencies, to ensure Siting projects will comply with applicable regulations.

Pay:Beginning annual salary is $56,000-$65,000 commensurate with knowledge and experience
Your Specific Responsibilities:This position will serve as the Environmental Consultant for the Siting Coordination Office by providing oversight in case management including coordination with other DEP Programs and state and local agencies, rule development, final approval documents, and reports and summaries for Siting projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge of biological systems, water quality, water supply, hydrology, air quality, waste management, and land use planning; computer systems and programs.
- Skilled in understanding and applying rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to environmental programs; analyzing and interpreting environmental data.
- Ability to solve problems relating to environmental systems; plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; communicate environmental management information effectively verbally and in writing; maintain confidentiality where appropriate; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; coordinate work efforts of many; be an effective, conscientious, and respectful team member.
Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of the Power Plant Siting statutes and rules and their implementation.
- Knowledge of the Power Plant Siting processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications:A bachelor's degree in science or engineering, from an accredited college or university and 3 years of related experience; or, any combination of post-secondary education and verifiable related experience, as described in this posting, for a total of 7 years.
A Valid Driver's License.
