Position Specific Description The Nextera Distributed Generation Division is looking for a seasoned leader who has extensive experience in both the interconnection, commissioning and SCADA activities associated with Distributed Generation and Utility photovoltaic and battery energy storage generation facilities. This position will serve as the Manager of Interconnection, Commissioning and SCADA Manager within the Nextera Distributed Generation Organization and will be responsible for the overall interconnection and commissioning of newly constructed projects. This includes the establishment processes for optimal operational status to support a timely turnover of projects to our internal Operations team. The Manager of Interconnection, Commissioning and SCADA will coordinate and oversee the site interconnection and coordination with the Utilities, Utility inspection and interconnection requirements, as well as ensure all deliverables within the Interconnection Agreement have been met. This position will also oversee all commissioning work performed by both internal and external stakeholders as well as DAS and SCADA integration, and start-up procedures are met to ensure newly constructed projects achieve Commercial Operational Date of the facility. Overview Employees in this role are responsible for performing engineering assignments of a complex nature requiring the application of engineering skills. Additionally, will be responsible to apply skillset at various project facilities. Job Functions • Systematically establish and manage commissioning program to include inverters, DAS, SCADA, and protection devices. As well as developing new standards, processes and procedures to improve efficiencies • Lead internal and external stakeholders during the commissioning phase, which includes commissioning activities, testing, contractual deliverables, and change orders • Establish and maintain relationships with external Utility leaders to support timely interconnection coordination activities • Systematically establish and manage the SME review and approval of distribution and transmission electrical design construction drawings, to include protection, relays, controls and ensure Utility expectations and protocols are being met • Provide commissioning support for inverter, DAS, and SCADA start-up and validation • Administer and manage commissioning contracts and authorize and approve all contract change orders • Oversee commissioning of Medium Voltage Protection Devices • Sub-contractor management of all medium voltage facility construction and testing as the SME • Works collaboratively with resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities and work plans • Engagement of ongoing Grid Integration evolution in standards, protocols, requirements and upcoming changes to Utility requirement • Investigation of system and equipment failures • Plans and organizes projects • Applies highly specialized knowledge in carrying out work • Provides technical support to lower level professionals • Performs other job-relate duties as assigned • Ability to lift regularly lift 25 lbs. Desired Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in engineering and minimum of 5 years of direct experience in commissioning utility scale energy generation projects. • Certified Professional Engineer (PE) • Familiar with Six Sigma concepts • Electrical License and other electrical certifications • Electrical Engineering Background • History of Substation Protection and Control • Experience with SEL, GE relays, revenue grade meters, and Novatech Orion. • Experience reviewing test results of substation equipment and instrument transformers • Strong knowledge of operation and controls of high voltage equipment up to 34.5kV • Strong knowledge of protection schemes, relay, meters, RTU, and communication equipment • Knowledge of communication protocols such as DNP3.0, Modbus, SEL, ASCII, etc. • Agile in time and resource management • Experience with Subcontractor management Location: Remote - East Coast Travel %: Travel to project sites up to 50% of the year Job Overview This position manages the engineering, procurement and construction oversight activities necessary to develop, license/permit, erect, start- up, and commence commercial operations of between one and four energy project sites. Employees in this role interface daily with each project's designated management committee or acts as Executive Director of project activities.
