What you will do You will be advance Lean in practice, adaptation and cultural integration. Through the development and implementation of specific strategies, training and active advocacy, you will influence the organization to realize a sophisticated Lean culture. You will also demonstrate success through increased operational and business metrics performance. With responsibility for three plant sites, the work of this role will impact $100M+ in conversion cost and operational performance. You will also align the processes, measurements, standards, and efforts across the region with the primary focus areas of Lean and Continuous Improvement. You will be fully accountable for supporting and leading the creation of an inclusive and positive organizational culture while assisting in the developing of a bench of Lean skilled talent that is prepared to take on larger assignments, is diverse in representation, background/experience and thought. You will also lead in a matrixed environment to all Lean leads at plant sites.
This role can sit in Norman, OK or Wichita, KS and is available for relocation assistance. How you will do it - Development and deployment of both a short-term and long-term Lean strategy that accelerates the progress of continuous improvement across all operations.
- Leading the consistent execution of the Lean deployment plan support the operation with Hoshin Planning and rhythm, KPI Scorecard Management and Structured Learning.
- Ensure that all strategic breakthroughs and Continuous Improvement Plans are actioned through high quality plans tied to Value Stream Maps and Standard Work, and vital KPI scorecards are in place.
- Support the deployment and maturity of the Johnson Controls Management System (JCMS) principles to drive the cultural transformation.
- Develop and drive both strategic and tactical Lean activities and advancements including training and execution; through word and action, develop an organization that embraces Lean and actively improves the operations using appropriate Lean methodologies and tools.
- Drive through coaching the culture of true Gemba walks and to ensure the leadership is supporting the associates to drive strong teams at each area of the plants.
- Support the site Lean Managers and Facilitators with proven improvement methodologies to ensure successful completion of their projects. Help drive the training with Lean Academies, shop floor kaizen events, benchmarking experiences, and daily CI ideation.
- Raise the performance and talent level in the plant through active engagement with leaders and employees. Mentor, coach, and train others throughout assigned organization. Coach up, across and below others to act with the Servant Leadership mindset.
- Assist in raising the engagement and organizational health within assigned region; create an inclusive culture through role modeling, setting of expectations and course correcting.
- Be an active and visible community participant; raising the awareness of our sites and their local impact while also increasing the positive impact the site has on the community.
What we look for - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management or similar
- 10+ years Manufacturing Leadership experience with emphasis on Lean Deployment, Toyota Production System, Theory of Constraints, and Six Sigma.
- 3-5 years experience leading Lean or Continuous improvement at a large manufacturing site or multi-site
- Demonstrated success in translating strategic priorities into operational reality
- Demonstrated success in driving organizational and cultural changes
- Proven track record in change management and influencing skills across the organization
- Up to 50% travel required (US and MX)
- Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certifications
- Previous multi-facility accountability
- Experience working in a large matrix global organization
