Title: Technology Engineer Salary: $110,000 - $145,000 base salary Location: Houston, Texas (Katy, TX) Job Summary Global leader for licensing and supply of catalyst for the catalytic Reforming and Aromatics processes. The Reforming & Aromatics Technology Engineer position works as part of the Technology team to support our Regional Operations Center (ROC). Our mission for the catalytic Reforming & Aromatics Technology team is to support and grow our catalyst Reforming & Aromatics business through the development of strong technical offers, superior client service and best in industry technical support. This Technology team works together to grow the team's collective expertise in reforming and aromatics for existing applications as well as with an eye to the future solutions in the changing energy and petrochemical landscape.
Expectations & Main responsibilities - As a member of company's catalytic Reforming & Aromatics Technology team for the Americas Regional Operations Center (ROC), the successful candidate will:
- Report to the Director of Technology for Reforming.
- Support company's catalytic Reforming & Aromatics technologies and catalyst offers within the Americas ROC territory.
- Provide technical support to internal ROC Catalyst & Absorbents and Process Licensing businesses including after sales customer support and performance reviews.
- Ensure that they and their colleagues comply with Americas ROC Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental (QHSE) policies to achieve QHSE objectives.
- As a technical expert with company's catalytic Reforming technology team, these individual responsibilities will include the following tasks:
- Collaborate with technological counterparts within company to ensure technology engineering tools and processes in Americas ROC represent the latest and most updated versions.
- Develop and maintain internal design standards consistent with the most updated tools and processes within company.
- Develop, present and ensure follow-up of technical projections for replacement of existing and supply of new catalysts.
- Develop, present and ensure follow-up of technical proposals and studies in support of evaluations by clients of our technologies and integrated solutions, for grass root and revamp projects.
- Support development of commercial proposals for the company's Regional Operations Center (ROC) Catalyst & Absorbent and Process Licensing businesses, including solutions for revamping existing units.
- Contribute to the execution of awarded projects through the following:
- develop the expert basis including the definition of the selected catalyst, evaluation of expected performance and selection of the process performance guarantees
- collaborate with the engineering team to ensure the design meets the expected performance as defined in the expert basis
- participate in client meetings throughout project execution to ensure clear communication between company and the client.
- Identify and propose improvement concepts to drive technology development positioning for successful award of future licenses, including collaborating with the global technology development and improvement teams, as needed.
- Provide after sales technical service to company clients with the following objectives:
- Ensuring safe and successful commission of new units, including development and review of startup/shutdown procedures, and supervision in the field
- Monitoring clients' units and catalysts performances using company Connect'In TM remote monitoring solution, support clients in optimizing their operations, and troubleshooting all through both remote support as well as regular visits/meetings at clients' sites
- Build long term relationships with clients while showcasing the company's expertise and best in industry technical support.
- Promote company Connect'In TM remote monitoring solution
- Provide training to internal Regional Operations Center (ROC) team members from all business units, as needed.
- Promote technology with external parties and present technological advantages in various meeting formats, from large industry conferences to smaller one-on-one settings.
- Assist other Technology Engineers, as needed.
TECHNICAL & BEHAVIORAL REQUIREMENTS Technical Qualifications and Skills - BS, MS or PhD. degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience required.
- Two or more (2+) years of experience in the petrochemical and/or refining industry; demonstrated experience with catalytic Reforming preferred.
- Field experience preferred; experience in commissioning/startup/shutdown activities and ongoing operational support for catalytic Reforming units preferred.
- Strong knowledge in chemical engineering fundamentals including reaction engineering, catalyst and general chemistry required.
- Experience with PRO/II simulation software (or similar) preferred and Excel-based modelling tools required.
- Experience in basic process design, project engineering and/or economics preferred.
- Experience giving technical presentations to large audiences is preferred.
