DutiesAs a Biologist your duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serves in a technical staff assistance capacity to program or complex management relative to a wide range of topics and policies.
- Develops and/or reviews project study and investigation plans to ensure validity of experimental design, statistical rigor, and scientific merit.
- Ensures that project designs meet identified study objectives, are statistically valid, and provide interpretations valuable to managers.
- Designs, plans, manages, lead, and conducts a wide variety of investigations, assessments or inspections involving complex biological, chemical, and physical processes.
- Independently coordinates activities with involved agencies, researchers, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve technical and administrative issues of local and national significance.

QualificationsOnly experience and education obtained by the closing date 11/27/2024 will be considered.
In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualifications.Basic Requirement:1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Minimum Qualifications GS-11A. I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include: Design and implementation of monitoring programs for endangered species, supervising large crews of biologists and volunteers in the field, conducting fisheries stock assessments and population estimation, presenting complex scientific information to natural resource and land managers.
B. I have three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a discipline directly related to the position.
C. I have a combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described in A and B above that, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

- Ability to communicate orally and build consensus with individuals and special interest groups with diverse and potentially conflicting viewpoints with regard to natural resource management, to share information, and to present findings and recommendations.
