Job ResponsibilitiesThis employee will serve as a wildlife biologist for Unit 4C and supervise management activities on Donnelley, Botany Bay Plantation, and Edisto River WMAs as well as other department-owned properties within the unit.Job Duties Include:
- Supervising management of wildlife habitat properties within the unit.
- Updating property management plans as needed.
- Supervising public hunt programs and other public use programs on properties within Unit 4C.
- Supervising the maintenance and infrastructure of WMAs.
- Working with Marine Resources and volunteers to accomplish management goals at Botany Bay Plantation.
- Working to complete ongoing and upcoming projects on areas under your supervision and within the unit.
- Monitoring budgets and expenses.
- Compiling monthly paperwork as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A master's degree in biology, chemistry or related technical area field; or a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, wildlife management or related technical area and two (2) years of experience relevant to the job.
Preferred Qualifications Ability manage upland habitats to benefit both game and non-game species. Ability to manage habitat for waterfowl usage. Ability to conduct hunts for the general public. Ability to identify wetland plants beneficial to waterfowl, and conduct prescribed burns. Ability to supervise staff, manage budgets, collect data, and compile monthly reports. Ability to work with the general public, and handle nuisance issues and calls. Ability to work early mornings and late evenings, on some weekends, and in inclement buggy conditions.
