Job Description:Schnabel Engineering is eager to supplement and expand its current service offering to our clients in need of civil and environmental engineering services, particularly as they relate to site planning and design of solid waste, industrial, and power facilities. Qualified candidates will be well-rounded, organized problem solvers with excellent communication skills, an interest in solving technical challenges, and experience with residential, commercial, or industrial land development (including Erosion and Sediment Control, Stormwater Management, and Land-Disturbance Permitting).
Job Responsibilities:- Work within the civil and environmental engineering group to provide land development and site design support, from conceptual planning through detailed site design, plan production, land disturbance permitting, construction, final as-built, and permit termination
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare detailed site plans necessary for land disturbance permitting (including Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management)
- Prepare engineering calculations required for Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management meeting regulatory requirements
- Prepare civil/environmental engineering recommendations, technical specifications, opinions of probable cost, schedules, and other write technical deliverables
- Prepare site plan submittal applications, including Site Plans, Erosion and Sediment Control Plans, Stormwater Management Plans, BMP Maintenance Agreements, and SWPPP's, as required to meet various project requirements
- Perform site inspections, attend owner and regulatory meetings, and assist with construction contract bidding and administration activities as necessary to meet client needs and expectations
- Work within the civil and environmental engineering groups and across other Schnabel business units and offices to effectively balance workload among available resources
Required Skills/Experience:- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- At least 8 years of professional experience in land design and development
- Active PE Licensure in Virginia and or Michigan, or the ability to obtain licensure within 12-months of employment
- Extensive knowledge of Erosion and Sediment Control, Stormwater Management, and Land Disturbance Permitting
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficiency with Office 365, and other productivity software
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired Skills/Experience:- Demonstrated experience with civil design and environmental permitting for site design and development, including Erosion and Sediment Control, Stormwater Management, and Land Disturbance Permitting.
Other Requirements:- Ability to lift 60 pounds and be physically able to navigate construction sites, safely enter work areas, traverse steep slopes and uneven terrain, and work in the outside elements when required
- Ability to perform field work and travel as needed for projects
- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
The compensation range for a Project Engineer is between $73,202 to $110,015. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
