Responsibilities
- Design new and existing fire alarm systems
- Prepare fire alarm design/riser drawings and shop packages for submittal
- Work closely with project managers, sales staff and/or operations manager
- Analyze data to determine feasibility of product proposal
- Prepare material and fabrication lists
- Receive and respond to customer design needs
- Correspond with district municipalities for the design needs
- Sales and Marketing information gathering
- Check accuracy of own work
- Perform other duties, as required
Qualifications
- 3-5 years outside sales experience
- Experience as an electrical engineer or a college diploma in fire protection design or a combination of equivalent education and experience
- Knowledge of basis construction practice and blueprint reading
- Working knowledge of various ULC (Underwriter Laboratories of Canada) code requirements
- Working knowledge of provincial building codes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, MS Project and AutoCAD
- Ability to meet deadlines and excellent time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in the fire protection or security systems design preferred
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $38-48 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
