A Day in the Life of a Principal Landscape ArchitectAs a Principal Landscape Architect, you'll be working directly with the Raleigh Leadership Team, including the Office Director and Engineering Group Manager. The expectation is for the Principal Landscape Architect to hit the ground running, working with existing clients and project teams, and elevate design capabilities in our North Carolina market along with the larger Southern Region. You will identify and lead project proposals as we pursue new projects and build relationships with new clients. Additionally, in collaboration with the other design professionals in the firm, you will help to grow our landscape architecture practice and build our portfolio as a core Toole Design service practice area. In projects, you will often serve as Project Manager or Design Task Lead, establishing the project focus and design direction, leading a team of designers, planners, engineers, and environmental graphic designers to develop successful project solutions.
You will apply your broad knowledge of technical criteria and methods, design documentation, and hands-on management experience to a variety landscape architecture and urban design projects. You will share a commitment to design excellent, and work with a collaborative team. You'll lend your knowledge and experience bringing projects from concept to construction to project work and pursuits. As a part of our landscape architecture practice, you will be at the table with our clients, community members, working collaboratively projects from start to finish, from stakeholder outreach and design workshops to construction documents and observation.

We are targeting a salary range of $95,000 to $115,000 for this position.Work Schedule for a Principal Landscape ArchitectThis full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2-3 days per week. The Raleigh office of Toole Design is conveniently located in downtown Raleigh, just a few blocks from Moore Square and GoRaleigh Station. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.

Requirements
Qualifications of a Principal Landscape Architect:- A bachelor's and/or master's degree in Landscape Architecture
- 15+ years of progressive landscape architecture experience
- Licensure or ability to complete licensure within one year of employment
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in all phases of design, streetscapes, plazas and parks, master plans, planting plans, and specifications
- Strong proficiency with hand and digital graphic techniques to communicate design ideas and produce illustrative graphics
- Proficiency in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite
- An interest in multimodal transportation and trail design
- A client-service attitude and entrepreneurial spirit
- Strong project management skills including development of project staffing and schedules, developing and monitoring project budgets, cost estimating and specifications
It would be a plus if you have any of the following:- Experience with green infrastructure
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or MicroStation
