Key Functions & Responsibilities of the Process Engineer - Chemical - Develop and implement standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Design, develop, and modify production processes, products, and equipment to optimize efficiency and meet customer specifications.
- Utilize Six Sigma tools and other problem-solving methodologies to identify and address root causes of process issues.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including PFMEAs and work instructions.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and SPC requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and ISO 14001 regulations.
- Implement Lean manufacturing principles, including 5S.
- Lead and manage new product launches and capital projects.
- Develop equipment layouts, manufacturing processes, and detailed cost estimates.
- Oversee the work of external contractors and vendors.
- Support program management activities, including quoting, design, procurement, and production implementation.
- Analyze process data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant performance.
- Maintain equipment and ensure optimal utilization.
- Procure spare parts and equipment upgrades.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues.
- Support the development of technical skills within the team.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and records.
- Support tooling modifications and PPAP processes.
- Provide training and support for new product launches.
- Collaborate with quality teams to address quality issues.
- Participate in safety and environmental initiatives.
Required Education, Qualifications, & Skills of the Process Engineer - Chemical - Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Knowledge of polymer extrusion, spunbond, or non-woven textile processes.
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with process optimization, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation.
- Strong technical skills, including CAD and software proficiency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with robotic controls (ABB, Fanuc, Motoman) and PLC/HMI systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens) is preferred.
