Position Overview: The ESH Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all environmental, safety, and health programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to promote a safe working environment for all employees. This is a key leadership role, collaborating across departments to continuously improve safety performance and environmental impact at our sawmill facilities. Key Responsibilities: Safety Leadership: Oversee and manage all safety programs, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations. Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent future incidents. Training Programs: Develop, deliver, and maintain employee training programs on safety practices, emergency procedures, and environmental awareness. Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including air quality, water discharge, and waste management. Manage environmental permits and reporting requirements. Hazard Identification: Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, mitigate risks, and continuously improve safety standards. Sustainability Initiatives: Lead and support environmental sustainability programs to reduce the company’s environmental footprint, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and resource conservation. Health and Wellness Programs: Implement health and wellness initiatives aimed at promoting employee well-being, including ergonomic assessments and health monitoring. Regulatory Reporting: Prepare and submit all required regulatory reports related to environmental, health, and safety compliance. Emergency Response: Develop and manage emergency response plans and coordinate drills to ensure all employees are prepared for emergency situations. Team Collaboration: Work closely with management, operations, and human resources teams to integrate ESH practices into daily operations and foster a culture of safety and responsibility. Qualifications: Experience: 3 years of experience in environmental, safety, and health management in sawmill industry Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Knowledge of Regulations: Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead safety programs and influence a safety-first culture within an industrial workforce. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve ESH-related issues and implement corrective actions. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train, influence, and work with employees at all levels. Certifications (Preferred): CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or similar certifications. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with safety management software and environmental monitoring tools is a plus.
