Job Description

The Estate Gardening Horticulturist Assistant is a hands-on position that provides estate landscape maintenance services and performs specific planning and regulatory functions.

Estate Gardening Horticulturist Assistant responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Work independently under the direction of the site horticulturist.

• Mowing, raking, digging, and weeding of estate property landscapes.

• Load and unload heavy equipment and plant materials as needed.

• Schedule and manage daily workloads.

• Plan, coordinate, and collect equipment and job materials each day.

• Attend and participate in crew and department general and safety meetings.

• Maintain on-site relations and communications with clients, contractors and/or subcontractors.

• Monitor and maintain landscape lighting controller (changing times, replacing bulbs, etc...)

Safe operation and maintenance of the following landscaping equipment:

• Mowers - Push, walk behind, and ride.

• Tillers, aerators, and slit seeders.

• Edgers, string trimmers and chainsaws

• Backpack blowers and sprayers.

• Hand tools such as shovels, picks, rakes, and pruning tools.

• On occasion, wheel tractors.

Pay/Benefits Package

• $650 - $850 Weekly Salary

Required Skills

Required Skills:

*Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a routine basis
*Ability to bend and stoop continually
*Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
*Ability to work around bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns, and other environmental risks
*Must be able to work with minimal supervision
*Must wear sturdy shoes, company uniforms, and assigned PPE

*Must present yourself in a professional, polite manner
*Must practice safety with chemicals and equipment
*Must wear company-provided eye and ear protection as required
*Must be able to pass a criminal background check
*Must be willing to obtain NC Pesticide applicator license
*Must have good communication skills and ability to motivate others
*Must comply with Bland's policies and procedures
