At Amazon, we are committed to and invested in Sustainability because it's a win all around - it's good for business, the planet, our customers, and our communities. Our Global Corporate Sustainability team manage our social and environmental impacts for Amazon's corporate offices worldwide. We drive solutions that enable our customers and our business to become more sustainable.
We are looking for a leader to think big about our waste programs with the goal of reducing our environmental impact. You will establish a bold new vision for the program which impacts Amazonians as well as internal teams. You will also support data driven decision-making in our operations team by developing KPIs. You will regularly engage with stakeholders, work with technical or science teams, and communicate with executives. Our business will rely on this person to stay engaged with industry groups, business development teams, and public policy in order to scan the horizon for upcoming opportunities and challenges.
The successful candidate will be somebody who is well-rounded and knowledgeable about operational feasibility, can navigate corporate sustainability strategy, obsesses over the customer experience, and create KPIs to drive the right decision-making and clarity. Experience with waste management, diversion, and avoidance is a plus.
Key job responsibilities
• Develop and deliver long-term strategy to executive leaders.
• Deliver white papers which provide insights, recommendations, risks, and benefits of various waste initiatives. Additionally, support the delivery of such white papers for business partners.
• Identify key metrics with stakeholders which will support execution across Amazon offices worldwide.
• Develop and execute analytical processes to track annual and multi-year goals.
• Maintain a dialogue with public policy, industry groups, and internal investment groups to work towards solutions to long-term, entrenched challenges.
A day in the life
A typical day will involve conversations with stakeholders to define the challenges faced in meeting our waste goals and identifying potential solutions to overcome them. Some of this might be technical (identifying the right KPIs to drive an outcome), some of this might be tactical (working with physical constraints in a building), some of this might be strategic (identifying the right goals in the first place). You will also find yourself developing analytical analyses to inform decisions and strategies. And you will occasionally email executives to update progress, resolve a blocking issue, or propose a new angle on an idea
