Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant and assumes responsibility for maintaining the physical assets of the property. This position will be responsible for a wide variety of general building maintenance, maintaining site services and manufacturing equipment repairs and services. Essential Functions Take an active role in workplace safety by engaging in safe workplace practices, communicating any equipment based safety issues to both the maintenance manager/supervisor and production supervisor, and proactively fixing any issues that could potentially become safety hazard in the future. Take an active role in protecting the communities environment by following all rules and guidelines and communicating any environmental hazards to the correct parties. Support the vision, mission, and guiding principles of both the company and the facility. Install new or troubleshoot mechanical devices in operation. Dismantle and examine devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Adjust, repair and or replace defective parts as necessary. Troubleshoot electrical controls including PLC’s, motors and variable speed drives systems. Ability to work on power systems 480VAC and below. Install new or repair/modify hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed. Operate forklift and hydraulic working platform as needed. Set up and operate shop machinery such as lathe, drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welder, etc. Use hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment. Fabricate basic metal equipment using welding and other methods that the facility needs to support operations. Complete all assigned maintenance work to the established standards in a timely and effective manner with minimum guidance or intervention. Complete all individually assigned maintenance responsibilities to the established standard in a timely and effective manner with minimum guidance or intervention. Take an active role in reliability by enforcing the established work order submittal process and verifying that equipment records are submitted accurately. Fully understand what is expected in regards to the Computerized Maintenance Management System, eMaint, and correctly use the eMaint system to the full capacity as clearly defined by the eMaint standards and procedures. Correctly complete all required documentation in a timely manner including, but not limited to: labor hours, part allocation, root cause analysis, repair information, and preventative maintenance data collection and documentation. Take a proactive approach to maintenance by completing all assigned preventative maintenance tasks in accordance to the established procedures in a thorough and timely manner with the intent of limiting equipment downtime. Drive the progression of a detailed equipment history by accurately documenting all tasks that require maintenance involvement that have not already been accounted for by an existing work order (work not requested by production, preventative maintenance schedule, predictive maintenance schedule, or previously scheduled work). Contribute to an accurate maintenance inventory by correctly signing in and out parts in the eMaint system and actively participate in completing inventory cycle counts on a regular basis. Research the equipment, tools, and parts needed to complete a task and notifies the maintenance supervisor or lead when the department does not have them. Actively attempt to learn new maintenance functions as they become necessary to complete needed maintenance tasks. Promote good housekeeping practices by keeping all maintenance areas including, but limited to: the maintenance shop, the maintenance office, lubrication area, and the inventory area clean and organized. Take an active role in effective communication by communicating thoroughly with production operators, production supervisors, maintenance manager/supervisor, maintenance lead/scheduler, fellow maintenance technicians, and other maintenance shifts. Complete other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience High School Diploma preferred. Associate’s degree (A.A.) or Licensed Journeyman in lieu of degree or commensurate experience preferred. Proven expertise in troubleshooting controls systems, electric components, pneumatic, instrumentation and mechanical devices. Proven expertise in industrial electrical, including design, sizing, installation and component level troubleshooting. Experience in other fields of maintenance such as plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, welding, forklift repair, etc. Competent PC (MS Office and Windows) computer skills desired. Additional Qualifications Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and adjust to rapid changes.
