GENERAL SUMMARY Provide professional and courteous service to guests while performing zoo admissions, operating attractions, parking lot traffic control and assisting with special events. RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain an enthusiastic and welcoming demeanor when working at the zoo. Welcome guests at zoo entrances and or buildings and track guest attendance as needed. Troubleshoot and provide guest service recovery relating to any issues and provide expert service. Properly operate equipment and attractions as trained such as the carousel and train. Other attractions as assigned. Fulfill cashier positions as assigned. Will be held accountable for all revenue received. Fulfill usher positions by greeting and checking in attendees of various events as assigned. Fulfill parking lot attendant positions to assist with traffic control and complete transactions at exit paystations. Maintain order and tidiness of the work area which includes cleaning duties and keeping work areas stocked with appropriate supplies. Assist in providing daily on-site support to various locations/positions as requested. Adhere to the dress code. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS Organized and detail oriented with the ability work in a fast-paced environment. Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficient in presenting a pleasant, service-orientated persona. Skilled in effectively resolving difficult guest service matters. Able to exercise sound judgment in emergency situations and respond with appropriate action. Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with diverse groups and interact courteously and respectfully with supervisors, fellow employees, volunteers, and general public. Excellent communication skills. Ability to express oneself clearly and effectively. Ability to work independently and within a team. Ability to represent Lincoln Park Zoo in a professional manner at all times. Ability to be flexible and adaptable to position demands and changes. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High School Degree or GED preferred. Must be at least 17 years of age. NOTE: A comparable combination of education, experience, or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skills, and ability required may qualify an individual. PHYSICAL and VISUAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to perform physical and visual activities that are commonly associated with the functions of this job: Standing for long periods of time, walking for long periods of time, sitting for long periods of time, ability to work alone for long periods of time, ability to work in a small confined space, ability to work with mild cleaning supplies. ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS Must be able to work in environmental/atmospheric conditions normally associated with the functions of this job: Indoor conditions including noise, odors, dust and mechanical/electrical hazards; Outdoor conditions including hot and cold temperatures, precipitation. AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS Must be available to work weekends and holidays, including working early and late hours. Must be available to work at least three days a week. Proof of Covid 19 vaccination.
