Position Overview:KODA Technologies Inc. is seeking a
Solar Array Design Engineer to join our team
. The Geostationary Extended Observations (GeoXO) satellite system is the ground-breaking mission to advance Earth observations from geostationary orbit. It will supply vital information to address major future environmental challenges in support of weather, ocean, and climate operations. The Solar Array Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, integration, and analysis of solar array systems, focusing on power generation, deployment mechanisms, and structural integrity. Key responsibilities include defining solar array requirements, conducting performance and environmental assessments, verifying interfaces, and collaborating with engineering teams to prepare solar array documentation for the PDR.
What You'll Be Doing:Design and Analysis: Adapt existing designs from the legacy GOES spacecraft and as needed, design solar arrays that will capture sunlight and convert it into electrical power to support the satellite's operations. This includes structural design, materials selection, and electrical configuration.
Integration: integrate the solar arrays with the satellite's power system, ensuring that the arrays are properly connected and can deliver power efficiently to the satellite's subsystems.
Testing: plan for the conduct of rigorous testing of the solar arrays to ensure they can withstand the harsh conditions of space, including extreme temperatures, radiation, and micrometeoroid impacts.
Deployment Mechanisms: design and test the mechanisms that will deploy the solar arrays once the satellite reaches its designated orbit, ensuring reliable and smooth deployment.
Efficiency Optimization: work on optimizing the performance of the solar arrays to maximize power generation efficiency throughout the satellite's mission. Support: provide planning for the support during the launch and initial on-orbit operations to ensure the solar arrays deploy correctly and begin generating power as expected.
Required Skills and Experience:- 10+ years of related experience
- Experience with solar array systems
- Experience with design, integration, and testing
Primary Work Location: Denver, CO area/partial telework allowed
