Job DescriptionCandidate ProfileThis is a high-visibility, hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the CEO. As a key driver of our investment strategy, you will oversee a diverse range of financial and investment activities, including financial strategy and advisory, M&A, project and portfolio financial modeling, and investment planning. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of experience in US renewable energy finance, with expertise in areas such as project or tax equity financing, investment analysis, corporate valuations, and M&A.
Position & ImpactYour contributions will play a pivotal role in shaping our investment strategy, from initiating new opportunities to managing portfolio risks. This position involves close collaboration with other department heads, providing critical metrics and insights on investments, capital allocation, returns, and valuations, as well as conducting research in response to Board-level inquiries.
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented leader who is confident in making strategic investment recommendations and adept at addressing complex risks and opportunities across the organization. As a management-level professional, you will lead and mentor a team of at least three analysts, making a strong commitment to their development and success an essential part of this role.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead Financial Modeling Efforts: Oversee the development and execution of comprehensive unlevered and levered financial models, including pricing strategies, valuation models, and tax equity structuring in compliance with the latest regulations.
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of analysts, ensuring efficient workflow, cross-divisional collaboration, and robust training programs to support professional growth.
M&A Leadership: Act as Deputy of the M&A working group, shaping buy-side strategies, coordinating project and portfolio launches, overseeing marketing materials, and conducting valuation analyses. For sell-side M&A, take ownership of due diligence, valuations, and risk assessments. You will lead all aspects of buy-side and sell-side financial modeling and marketing activities from start to finish.
Transactional Expertise: Take a hands-on role in drafting and reviewing M&A documentation, including term sheets and definitive agreements, while managing key counterparty relationships.
Advisory Leadership: Provide strategic advisory support to internal teams, such as guiding the Development team on project investments, capital deployment, and return optimization for both legacy and new projects. Serve as the subject matter expert on the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
Company Representation. You will collaborate closely with the C-suite, the parent company's Board of Directors, and key stakeholders to lead research, analysis, and reporting on M&A activities. Additionally, you will serve as our representative at industry conferences and events, showcasing our expertise and strengthening our presence within the sector.
QualificationsRequirements- At least 5 years of project finance, corporate or investment finance within the US renewable energy industry.
- Strong financial modeling experience, including levered models for project finance purposes; tax equity modeling and applied knowledge would be considered a strong plus.
