The City of Indianola is currently welcoming applications for the seasonal position of Aquatic Center - Pool Manager.
The City of Indianola (pop.16,069) is a growing community with a historic downtown, located approximately 15 minutes south of Des Moines. It is a safe community with Midwestern values, friendly people, and excellent schools. Indianola, which is home to Simpson College, the world-renowned Des Moines Metro Opera, the National Balloon Museum, and the U.S. Ballooning Hall of Fame, is known for its excellent access to outdoor activities, a nice trail system, five major parks, and two golf courses. The community welcomes thousands of visitors annually who come to Indianola to enjoy major events such as the National Balloon Classic, the Warren County Fair, and other events.
This position is responsible for a number of tasks, including, but not limited to:
- Prepares all regular employee work schedules on DigiQuatics and verification of all employee work hours.
- Schedules and administers regular staff in-service training sessions every Friday from 9:30 am - 11:30 am in conjunction with the Recreation Coordinator.
- Assists in orienting and training new and returning staff.
- Directs special pool promotions, making sure staff are aware of all promotions and promotion information.
- Assists in lifeguarding and/or other areas as needed.
The successful candidate will have:
- Age of 18 or older.
- Current Red Cross Basic Lifeguarding Certification, CPR, and First Aid, CPO or LGI Certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a regular lifeguard, head guard, or assistant pool manager plus a good working knowledge of pool operations - both mechanical and personnel.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.

The salary range for this position is $15.00-$15.50/hour depending on qualifications. This is a Seasonal position needed from April - August requiring 35 - 40 hours per week.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer drug screening, background check, physical, and physical capacity test. The position is open until filled.
