The incumbent needs to have strong commercial acumen, a solid understanding of the legal nuances that go into complex renewable energy real estate transactions and be comfortable independently leading legal matters within their scope of work (renewables origination, land acquisition, and development transactions). It will work cross-functionally with the Project Development, Finance, EPC, O&M, Transmission & Interconnection Teams on all legal matters related to Real Estate or Land Development. RESPONSIBILITIES: Renewables Real Estate Counsel / Attorney - Acts as SME in the areas of lease negotiations, land options, purchase agreements, easements / entitlements, and the related site control agreements for utility-scale renewable (solar, wind, energy storage) projects that are to be interconnected across ISOs/RTOs nationwide. Renewables Real Estate Counsel / Attorney - drafts, modifies, and negotiates all legal land agreements for utility-scale renewable (solar, wind, energy storage) projects. Renewables Real Estate Counsel / Attorney - takes ownership of supporting the Real Estate team with high-level title, survey, and mineral due diligence processes which may include research of land use requirements and restrictions. Renewables Real Estate Counsel / Attorney - is accountable for the financial closing of renewable land development purchase and lease transactions. Renewables Real Estate Counsel / Attorney - may coordinate with external and internal stakeholders (including outside Counsel) involved in the land acquisition process including any associated project financing legal initiatives. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: 3 Years of legal experience dealing with large infrastructure land development real estate transactions with recent work in a LICENSED Attorney / Counsel / Lawyer role for a company focused on grid-connected utility-scale renewables development initiatives; experience at an industry-recognized law firm is HIGHLY PREFERRED. MUST have solid experience with land title issues, land mineral rights, and the project development permitting process as it relates to real estate land acquisition strategies. MUST have proven experience drafting/reviewing real estate documents: purchase/sales agreements, lease terms, option to purchase agreements, option to lease agreements, easements, licenses, crossing agreements, and covenants. Strong background in land negotiations and heavy commercial real estate transactions. Expertise in site lease, purchase options, land permitting, purchase agreements, and site control initiatives. Well versed in real estate-related financial closing and intricate M&A transactions.
