Posted Monday, March 11, 2024 at 4:00 AM TITLE EHS Analyst COMPANY JTEKT Bearings North America REPORTS TO Human Resources Manager LOCATION Cairo, GA CLASSIFICATION Summary/Purpose Manage Environmental, Health, and Safety programs within Cairo Plant to meet corporate and regulatory standards. Ensure compliance with State and Federal environmental and safety regulations and promote excellence as defined by JTEKT standards. Monitor key safety, waste stream, and energy metrics. Implement corrective and preventative actions to promote and affect continuous improvement. Identify and work with Cairo team to resolve identified environmental and safety deficiencies and opportunities. Essential Duties and Accountabilities: Administer Corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and manage local Safety Plan Develop and Manage Safety Guardian Committee Schedule and track all Safety Trainings Conduct routine safety and environmental inspections Acquire EHS Training and Certifications necessary to progress in job capabilities / responsibilities Conduct Corporate New Equipment Safety and Commissioning Process in conjunction with the Engineering Manager Lead and maintain Risk Assessment program throughout facility to identify hazards and drive improvements Identify and maintain Red Level Equipment and drive improvement activity Provide Engineering support for plant Safety systems (Fire Protection, Electrical Safety, Machine Safety Devices, Mist Collection and Air Ventilation Systems) Coordinate and manage first responders and safety supplies Coordinate Ergonomic Analysis and improvement program Coordinate Industrial Hygiene Program (including indoor ventilation and air quality testing, mist collection, etc.) Coordinate annual hearing tests and training Maintain compliance with all safety regulations & laws (OSHA, Federal, State & Local Laws) Coordinate all safety reporting requirements Drive incident investigation, root cause analysis and reporting including communications to internal stakeholders Design training simulations to be used with new associates to perform job tasks safely (DOJO) Lead new hire safety orientation program Coordinate Plant Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness Program including periodical evacuation drills Responsible for LOTO practices, adherence, and training Manage and improve contractor safety program Maintain and improve risk controls, maps, and policies Motivate supervisors to monitor and improve the safety of their areas of responsibility by tracking and communicating safety KPIs at leadership meetings Act as a consultant with cross-functional teams to identify safety risks and to resolve compliance issues Inspire associates to be engaged and involved in improving the safety of their work area Coordinate and manage SDS records Perform investigation for workers compensation cases Develop and implement health education and wellness programs to promote prevention of illness and injury Build and improve plant safety standards and policies (paint schemes, signage, instructions) Primary plant contact to corporate EH&S team and Safety Coordinators at other plants Major team member during and following an OSHA visit or directive Manage waste streams to ensure proper disposal/recycling activities to meet JTEKT’s goal of zero waste to landfill Work with insurance provider to reduce safety and environmental risk Manage and maintain ISO14001 & ISO45001 management systems. Prepare and participate in internal and third-party audits. Address audit findings and opportunities Report the performance of the OH&S system to top management Monitor and report key compliance metrics and implement corrective and preventative actions to continually improve plant performance Maintain annual OSHA log and JNA TRIR tracking Perform all routine reporting and recordkeeping for EHS systems. Schedule required testing, maintain permits and licenses. Represent facility at local, state, or federal meetings and during on-site inspections Prepare and maintain spill response plans Identify cost effective solutions to proactively address EHS issues Employee may perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will manage the Safety Guardian program and team members. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Safety & Environmental Laws/Regulations Cursory Knowledge of Workers Compensation Knowledge of safety programs: KYT, Behavior Based Safety, Lock Out/Tag Out, Blood-borne pathogens, hazardous communications, emergency evacuation, machine guarding, hearing conservation, OSHA regulations, OSHA 300 Log, ergonomics, respirators, industrial hygiene, etc. Problem solving ability (accident investigations) Mechanical reasoning skills Proficient with Computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point) Communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to make informative presentations to a group Self-motivated and ability to work without supervision Ability to work overtime and weekends, when needed Ability to work in a plant environment Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interface at all levels of the organization Able to properly handle confidential information and maintain high ethical standards Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or in a related field preferred; equivalent experience in production environment 2 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment Previous forklift experience preferred Train the Trainer experience preferred Work Environment/Physical Demands: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching are required. This position requires regular lifting of work up to 40 pounds, and push or pulling work up to 125 pounds with proper equipment. Work may be performed in a normal office setting with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard. The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
