With operations in California, Oregon, and Pennsylvania, we manufacture softwood and hardwood lumber, particleboard, and hardboard siding. Duties/Responsibilities: Collect continuous forest inventory plot data. Perform timber cruising. Conduct pre and post-harvest forest inventories. Mark timber for harvest. Assist in reforestation projects as assigned by the Lead. Implement various uneven-aged silviculture prescription regimes including layout of group selection units. Flag property boundaries, watercourse protection zones, and other areas as needed for timber harvest layout. Assist Wildlife Biologist when needed. Support forestry research projects. Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards. Perform additional duties as required by supervisor. On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities. Position Requirements: Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Education and/or experience in forestry, forest engineering, natural resource management, biology, plant biology, plant genetics, agriculture sciences, business, economics, or other closely related fields. Basic forestry skills and knowledge including timber marking, mensuration, forest management, logging, silviculture, and timber harvest planning. Curiosity and willingness to learn. Collaborative problem-solving skills. Ability to perform field-based work in all terrain and weather conditions in the northern Sierra and southern Cascade mountains. Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties. Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening. Ability to drive a company vehicle on unmaintained dirt roads. Ability to pass a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Report. Environmental Conditions: May be exposed to variable terrain, dust, noise, trip hazards, and extreme temperatures and weather conditions. Required Personal Protective Equipment: Individuals must be willing to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, a face shield, and a respirator.
