Overview Herzog Transit Services, Inc. is currently seeking a Transportation Supervisor in Fort Worth, TX to join our team. This is a manager-level position for operations which will report to the Manager of Transportation. The position includes but is not limited to administrative and management duties as described below: The Transportation Supervisor will be responsible for safely directing and controlling Herzog Transit Services, Inc. train operations employees, in the day-to-day activities of train operations in railroad, train yard, and train station environments. Plan and direct the resources required to provide the service to meet established schedule requirements. Implement contingency plans and make changes to scheduled service to minimize service disruptions under the guidance of the Manager of Transportation and General Manager. This position is responsible for providing quality assurance of the Commuter Rail Service, as well as the safety, efficiency, and responsiveness of the systems to the public it serves. Duties and Responsibilities: This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Conduct operational testing by observing, documenting, and evaluating safe work practices per GCOR, ABTH, and Safety Rules, communicating results, and utilizing progressive discipline, if necessary. Participate in employee meetings and programs to emphasize safety and address safety issues. Assist in accident/incident investigations and complete required reports. Meet the strategic and tactical goals of our key measurements by managing equipment and staff, reporting results, and recommending solutions. Metrics include but are not limited to safety, on-time performance, customer service, and budgetary compliance. Exercise leadership and supervision over rail operations which are composed of Engineers and Conductors. Provide counsel and guidance of, and render performance appraisal evaluation of, personnel. Assist during service disruptions and subsequent recovery in the supervision of crew and equipment utilization, as well as passenger notifications. Grow strong relationships through daily communication with other departments to achieve budgetary and key performance goals; decrease fuel consumption using fuel conservation methods. Train new employees and provide continuing education for our existing employees, following federal regulations and company policies. May serve as a first responder to critical incidents. Maintain 49 CFR 240 records. Maintain 49 CFR 242 records. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to work any shift. Maintain current Conductor and Engineer certifications. Knowledge of rules and regulations that affect rail operations, maintenance, and engineering systems. Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Ability to scope out the length and difficulty of projects, and measure performance against goals. Pre-Employment Requirements: Subject to a pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review. Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position. Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position. Complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job. Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to one-half mile. Maintain balance for an extended period while train is in motion. Must be able to be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands while being exposed to moderately loud noises daily. Work in a confined access/space environment with a width of 16 inches. Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture, and wind. Regularly sit and stand for an extended period. Able to tolerate repetitive movements, squatting/bending, and overhead reaching. Able to lift to shoulder height and horizontally transfer up to 35 pounds for a distance of up to 10 feet. Regularly kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods. Regularly reach overhead. Regularly grasp/squeeze equipment with a force of up to 20 pounds. Regularly ascend/descend a platform with a height of up to 36 inches from the floor. Regularly ascend and descend an 8-step ladder while carrying up to 20 pounds. Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position. Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals. Able to work in a safety-sensitive work environment.
