The Madison office of SmithGroup is looking for a Senior Project Designer to join our team. Working with us, you will: Work with the Studio Leader and project teams to lead architectural design for all project phases. Lead the design process on projects. Participate in project pursuits and interviews. Develop and foster an external design presence. Collaborate and coordinate with other designers, medical planners, project architects and engineers. Lead the production of architectural drawings, renderings and design assignments. Provide oversight and monitoring of the work performed by junior staff. Mentor junior staff and participate in coaching. Participate in employment interviews and serve as design expert as requested. An ideal candidate has: A professional degree in Architecture. Minimum 12 years of professional experience as an architectural designer leading and working with medium to large-sized projects. Experience in the Higher Education market strongly preferred. Experience in markets of Science and Technology, Cultural, Healthcare, and other commercial projects is beneficial. Architectural Registration and LEED AP preferred. A strong and diverse professional design portfolio. Experience leading design teams and project groups required. Proficiency with and experience communicating design concepts using current design software including Revit, SketchUp, Enscape, and other modeling software programs such as Rhino and 3D Studio Max. Exemplary leadership skills, strong written and verbal communication, and organizational skills to help facilitate the development of trusted relationships with clients and staff.
