Job Description: The HSE Specialist has the primary responsibility for coaching, leading and influencing the operations management on HSE principles, practices, and safety culture. This individual is responsible for leading the site management in injury and illness prevention, conservation practices and compliance with local, federal and company HSE standards. Oversee programs to assure compliance with corporate HSE programs as well as applicable OSHA, EPA, NFPA, state and federal HSE regulations. Maintain safety policies and procedures to comply with federal, state and local regulatory agencies along with the local Fire and Law Enforcement. Prepare and submit all reports as required by regulations of these agencies. Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify potential accident and health hazards and implement corrective or preventative measures where indicated. Conduct regular audits of safety procedures to be sure they are fully implemented and effective, including but not limited to: Lock out/Tag out, Electrical Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, Emergency Response, Injury and Illness Prevention Program, etc. Conduct and document Job Risk Analysis to identify hazards. Implement corrective actions identified by JRA. Coordinate the investigation of accidents, illnesses and near miss incidents to identify their root causes and to determine how they might be prevented in the future along with analyzing accident and incidents for trends. Develop, conduct and evaluate safety training programs. Provide leadership and direction to the Employee Safety Committee. Coordinate, conduct and document the results of annual fire drills and emergency actions necessitated by an environmental or other emergency. Consult with all departments on the design and use of equipment regarding ergonomic and machine guarding requirements. Implement ergonomic improvements where indicated. Represent the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs. Familiarity with Blood Borne Pathogens, ergonomic assessment, worker's compensation procedures and paperwork, Hazcom, PPE, IIPP, REACH, LOTO, electrical safety, industrial hygiene, OSHA regulations. Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or accredited equivalent 3 years of experience in safety, industrial health, science, safety engineering, environmental management, or related technical discipline. Preferred Qualifications: Proficient with MS Office applications is preferred. Experience dealing with regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, State programs, etc.) Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
