The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of solar PV and battery systems, design principles, and industry best practices. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of solar design and estimating, from initial site assessments and feasibility studies to detailed engineering drawings and construction support. You will oversee two estimators, three designers and two technicians gathering site photos. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, management skills, and a passion for renewable energy. Be self-sufficient and supportive of other team members. Duties and Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a team of solar designers, estimators and technicians, providing technical guidance and support. Oversee the design of residential and/or commercial solar PV and battery systems, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards (including NEC). Develop detailed engineering drawings and specifications for solar PV systems, including electrical diagrams, structural plans, and equipment layouts. Utilize PV design software to model and optimize system performance. Collaborate with internal teams (sales, project management, procurement) to ensure seamless project execution. Review and approve design submittals and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Stay current on the latest solar technologies, design trends, and industry best practices. Contribute to the development and improvement of design processes and standards. Develop and maintain training schedules and resources to ensure team members are learning and growing. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. Proven experience in solar PV system design (3 years preferred). Experience managing a technical team is highly desirable. Proficiency in PV design software (e.g., Helioscope, Aurora, Scanifly, AutoCAD). Strong understanding of NEC codes and other relevant safety standards. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Experience in the electrical or construction industries is a plus. Experience estimating solar or electrical construction is a plus. Position Information: Department and Supervisor: Design and Engineering, Josh Hill – VP of Operations Full Time: An estimated 40-50 hours per week depending on the time of year. Total Annual Compensation: $70,000 – 90,000 annually (paid semi-monthly) Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, days Travel: Very infrequent Hybrid / In Office: Hybrid after training is complete Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Predominantly operates in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
