TRC has an immediate opening for a permanent, full-time Senior Archaeologist / Project Manager position in Austin, TX . The Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager will be reporting to our Permitting, Planning, and Licensing Practice Southern Operations, and will support various energy and infrastructure projects throughout the Southern/Gulf States as well as Oklahoma and New Mexico. Responsibilities Job Responsibilities: Be involved in a wide variety of energy-related projects including electric transmission, natural gas pipeline, and renewable energy (wind/solar) generation projects. Effectively coordinate field work, direct and support other technical staff, interact in the field with clients, stakeholders, and contractors, and manage budgets, invoicing, and schedules. Work well with existing clients and establish relationships with them. Build relationships with internal clients including Planning, Permitting, and Licensing practice project managers. Responsible for overall management and direct supervision of all types of archaeological field projects, ranging from small local surveys through large, multi-year and multi-state energy projects. Technical duties will include marketing, proposal development, client coordination, regulatory and tribal consultation, development and implementation of research designs, work plans and schedules, analysis, and reporting. The Senior Archaeologist/PM will work closely with the other Cultural Team Leads, Principal Investigators, TRC archaeologists, environmental staff, permitting specialists, and managers in TRC's Planning, Permitting, and Licensing practice. We are looking for an individual enthusiastic about their work with a strong commitment to client service and technical excellence. The candidate will possess solid relationships with the SHPOs, THPOs, and federal agencies in their respective region. The position will include travel away from the home office, whether for client meetings, project kickoffs, or limited short-term field projects. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Advanced degree in Anthropology or Archaeology (must meet the Secretary of the Interior's guidelines). Five or more years of progressive experience supervising archaeological projects in the Southern/Gulf States (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas), or Oklahoma. Excellent personnel and management skills with a track record of progressively higher-level experience as an archaeologist. Experience and ability to serve as the Principal Investigator (PI) for projects and able to obtain regionally-specific permits (e.g., ARPA permitting, or an Antiquities permit from the THC). Knowledge and experience with Section 106, NEPA, and other state and federal regulations and experience with other states' environmental review processes and requirements. Ability to work closely with engineers and other technical specialists as part of a larger project team. Provides business development collaboration with existing clients and identifies new opportunities to expand services within the TRC client base. Familiarity with digital field technology (Fulcrum app, Trimble, GPS, total station, etc.) and GIS applications and software. Ability to write quality technical reports and successful proposals in a timely manner, with a track record of meeting deadlines. A commitment to TRC's quality and safety goals.
