Brown and Caldwell has an immediate opening for a Sr Associate Environmental Engineer or Civil Engineer to join our Permitting and Compliance team based in Boise, Idaho. We are seeking a motivated, achievement-oriented individual who is actively engaged in environmental engineering in support of multi-media permitting and operational compliance primarily in Idaho. This person can help us fulfill our commitment to deliver client success on each and every project we undertake. You will work with nationally recognized, senior technical staff, as well as have the responsibility to supervise junior staff. We are looking for a candidate with strong verbal and written communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines. This role offers a chance to mentor and lead more junior technical staff while making a significant impact on environmental management and regulatory compliance. In this role, your primary responsibilities will include technical support, project delivery and engagement with environmental engineering in support permitting and compliance clients (both private sector and municipal). Occasional travel may be required. In this role, you will take the lead in managing and delivering environmental permitting and compliance projects for both public and private sector clients. Your focus will be on stormwater management, spill prevention, and operational regulatory compliance, with opportunities to contribute to business development initiatives and cultivate strong client relationships. Additional job responsibilities are as follows: Lead stormwater permitting and regulatory compliance efforts, including Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) and NPDES MS4 permitting compliance. Serve as the technical lead for Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) compliance, including performing SPCC inspections, evaluations, and developing compliance plans. Develop Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and Notices of Intent (NOI) for regulatory submissions. Develop drinking water Facility Plans, Preliminary Engineering Reports and limited system design as part of a team. Assist in developing and writing stormwater standards, guiding clients through green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) strategies for sustainable, long-term solutions. Lead client and internal meetings to track project progress, discuss next steps, and ensure alignment with client expectations and regulatory requirements. Prepare written reports and technical memorandums to document analyses, findings, and recommendations for client projects. Delegate and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers, ensuring project milestones are achieved on time and within budget. Collaborate on business development efforts, positioning the firm for new opportunities, pursuing potential clients, and managing ongoing client relationships. Support a wide variety of environmental compliance and permitting tasks, including site investigations, environmental assessments, and permitting applications. Required Skills and Experience: BS Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or related field) required; MS degree preferred. A minimum of 10 years of directly applicable experience as described above. PE certification required in state of ID or ability to receive reciprocity. Knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations is required. Excellent technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually essential. Candidate will have strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to work well independently and in team environments. The candidate should have the ability to successfully collaborate with BC’s local, regional, and national Compliance and Permitting practitioners. Highly responsive, capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities. Positive, can-do attitude, flexible and self-motivated. Ability to work in a virtual environment across multiple company teams. Excellent communication, report writing, computer (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and project / task management skills required; experience with MS Project a plus. Capable of producing high quality products on schedule and within budgets. Candidate should be able to pursue, win and execute work in a team setting. Periodic travel is anticipated. Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
