This position would be part of a very skilled team that works closely with Project Managers and other Technical Leads performing data validation, due diligence, remediation, and other environmental sampling activities. This entry to mid-level position will be responsible for completing data validation on laboratory-reported data and supporting other team projects including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, compliance inspections/sampling, preparing reports, completing field investigation activities in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), and overall support of the environmental department with potential for growth into a project management role. Environmental Scientist/Chemist Responsibilities & Duties: Evaluate and validate environmental laboratory analytical data for compliance with method and program/project QA/QC requirements. Review laboratory-reported data following EPA's National Functional Guidelines. Prepare written reports and edit electronic data to incorporate validation qualifiers. Collaborate and provide support of field investigations, including environmental media sampling, groundwater monitoring, and site characterization. Support Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP), Petroleum Storage Tank (PST), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) documentation and reporting. Complete Phase I and Phase II projects. Communicate with clients for property access and site data to support Phase I and Phase II. Begin building relationships to become trusted advisor to clients, both internal and external. Receptive to training and guidance on fieldwork, data interpretation, and reporting. Willingness to participate in professional development through guidance. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in environmental remediation and compliance. Environmental Scientist/Chemist Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry, environmental sciences, or related field of study from an accredited university. Laboratory experience with high resolution GCMS for environmental chemistry using EPA methods is preferred; additional experience with EPA methods and laboratory instrumentation such as GC, GC/MS, ICP/AES, or ICP/MS is a plus. This position may require field work and travel, as well as early start times and occasional night or weekend work. May require some extended travel (more than 7 consecutive days). Working knowledge of field documentation and sampling techniques, equipment maintenance or repair, or other activities. Experience conducting work under the regulatory authority of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Texas Risk Reduction Program, Railroad Commission of Texas, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, and Oklahoma Corporation Commission is a plus. GIS experience a plus; OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus. Willingness to travel and possess a valid driver's license in good standing. Candidate may be required to pass a background check in order to enter Federal Facilities. Willingness to obtain certifications and participate in training activities as needed to support the team.
