Senior OSW Project Engineer page is loaded Senior OSW Project Engineer Apply locations United States Of America, Massachusetts, Boston time type Full time posted on Posted 3 Days Ago job requisition id R-08452 Job Title: Senior OSW Project Engineer Location: Boston, MA Office Salary: The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $124k to 145k Job Summary The Senior Engineer – OSW Telecommunications will be responsible for implementing robust and cost-effective engineering strategies, solutions and plans, tendering, negotiating, and managing offshore supply, installation, and maintenance contracts, planning, and implementing delivery sites and logistics, complying with company and business engineering standards and technical acceptance criteria, and ensuring quality, best practices and excellent H&SE performance are applied. They will be part of the Systems Integrations Package within the Project Engineering Team. The assigned resource/s will be managed by Systems Integration Package Manager. Job Responsibilities 1. Technical Advice and Leadership: o Identify telecommunications needs, requirements, and specifications for the project. o Design telecommunications infrastructure, including network topology, equipment, and cabling. o Ensure other mediums of WAN connections (e.g., fiber optics, VSat, LEO, 5G) at project sites. 2. Management and Coordination: o Manage the Telecommunications and IT scope: Supervise and manage telecom desktop and site surveys. Ensure compliance with project telecom requirements in tenders. Produce relevant documentation (e.g., surveys, budgets, proposals). Select telecom equipment based on Avangrid standards. Manage the tender process and contractual negotiations. Validate design documentation related to telecom and IT. Oversee installation and testing of telecom infrastructure. o Manage the Fiber Optic Scope: Create a strategy for fiber optic management. Develop FO patch plans for AVG Telecoms and CORE equipment. Define templates for FO patch plans and as-built documentation. Specify terminations, tests, and connections for FIE equipment. Ensure consistent fiber layout alignment throughout project locations. 3. Integration and Compliance: o Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Corporate IT, Corporate Security, National Control Center CORE Team, and OT Teams) to align project construction and delivery with Avangrid Policies. o Validate DMZ interface design and share it with third parties (e.g., ESP Fab for PACS) and Corp IT/OT. o Ensure telecommunications infrastructure integration with all project systems and subsystems. 4. Security and Testing: o Oversee the design, implementation, and testing of DMZs and similar interfaces between different vendor networks. o Study and design layouts for other WAN connections (e.g., fiber optics, VSat, TETRA, VHF, LEO, 5G). o Ensure delivery of VPN tunnels (or equivalent) for secure third-party access. o Coordinate and witness interoperability tests for communication links. o Manage onboarding of third-party systems on the corporate network. o Attend or remotely observe WAN circuit activation and testing, supervising necessary firewall changes. Key Criteria General skills, knowledge, and experience 1. Education: o Educated to University Degree level in a relevant computer engineering or science discipline. 2. Experience: o Substantial experience designing OT Networks for power generating stations, preferably in the offshore industry. o Experience with NERC CIP standards and compliance for cybersecurity. o Familiarity with TSO Transmission System Operator (TSO) communication interfaces would be an asset. o Experience coordinating with contractors involved in the delivery of OT/IT projects in international environments. 3. People Management: o Proven communication and interpersonal skills. o Ability to influence and develop key engineering decisions. o Tenacity, persistence, and determination to succeed in overcoming obstacles. 4. Delivery and Contracting: o Proven experience in the delivery of large OT/IT projects, including contract management, program management, cost, and risk control. o Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. o Sound planning and analysis skills with the ability to anticipate problems and implement mitigating solutions. 5. HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment): o Site presence requested to support site surveys by contractors or other site evaluations. o Understanding of Cyber Security concepts and experience with complicated network architectures is highly desirable. 6. Skills: o Excellent report writing and presentation skills. o Innovative and creative thinking. o Problem-solving – dealing with conflicting requirements. o Effective teamwork and communication with stakeholders at all levels of the project.
