Summary/Objective The Guest Services Attendant is an essential part of the team and contributes to the overall mission of the division. They are often the first line of contact with our guests, providing friendly, accurate, and professional guidance while assisting guests with questions. Daily tasks include receipting and collecting money for admission, rentals, and program fees, answering the phone, and data entry. This position will also be responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of any guest services areas, which may include the gift store, front desk, or concession stand if applicable. This individual must be a self-starter who interacts well with guests, volunteers, and staff, and is willing to help where needed. This position requires daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday availability. Essential Functions Performs front-desk duties at the gift store; assists customers and maintains the appearance of guest services related locations. Greets and engages with guests/public with warmth, professionalism, efficiency, and accuracy. Educates guests about the division mission and other guest-related topics, including exhibits, conservation, theater, outdoor terrace and trail, membership, gift store product, concession product, rental inquiries, promotions, events, and education programs. Answers a multi-line phone system and routes calls, following through with questions in a timely manner. Operates cash drawer and credit card machine, ensuring accurate money collection and change. Promotes and educates guests about the value of the membership program. Processes admissions, creates receipts, balances cash register, and prepares applicable reports and daily deposit. Maintains gift store and/or concession stand (if applicable) appearance through cleaning, staging, restocking, and adhering to food safety guidelines. Performs additional duties as required: Attends meetings and training. Assists as requested with events, rentals, and education programs, including setup, teardown, and trash removal. Provides support for staff with small projects. Manages stress from interacting with potentially irate and/or defensive customers. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures in all duties. Performs work duties during daytime, evening, weekend, and sometimes holidays as required. Requirements Required Education and Experience High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Natural Sciences, History, or related field.
