Primary Responsibilities HDR is looking to add exceptional environmental planners to our friendly and highly collaborative Colorado team. Candidates that strive for excellence in their day-to-day work, technical practice, and careers; as well as those individuals that are interested in continuing to expand their knowledge through collaboration and continued learning will integrate nicely into our environmental planning practice. Our environmental planners work across all business sectors, including transportation, energy, and development. The successful candidate for this position will have applied experience in environmental analysis, with an emphasis on transportation with the ability to prepare/plan and analyze technical studies, understand permitting requirements and prepare permits, guide projects through National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and prepare appropriate documents and similar reports, such as Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) studies. Person must have the ability to multitask, prioritize, and be well organized. This person will be expected to work collaboratively with resource specialists and engineering teams to identify project needs, help develop and screen project alternatives, assess for environmental and social impacts, recommend mitigation commitments, and prepare technical reports. The position would be expected to collect, assimilate, and manage data which may include the collection and development of GIS mapping, research, and interviews with government agencies and clients. Position would also support environmental project managers in project pursuits and delivery through preparation and participation in proposal process, project (public and client) meetings, and tracking project progress. Required Skills & Experience: Exceptional and demonstrated technical writing ability. At least five (5) years of experience with NEPA documentation or development of technical reports such as environmental impact technical reports, survey findings reports, compliance documentation, or similar required. Demonstrated ability to participate collaboratively on project teams and diverse technical teams. Maintain effective relationships with internal and external clients and project stakeholders. Experience with or demonstrated understanding of GIS or CAD software. Graphics development experience preferred but not required. Self-motivated, positive, flexible, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to accept internal and external feedback, and desire to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
