Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (RWRD) Treatment Division is excited to announce an opening for a maintenance gas plant operator. The RWRD Treatment Division has a new state-of-the-art renewable gas facility, which converts methane gas into renewable natural gas. The key responsibilities for this position will be to operate and maintain equipment used in the production of renewable energies. The first review of applications will be on 11/22/2024. Key Responsibilities: Perform operational and preventive maintenance of complex heavy-duty industrial equipment and machinery utilizing hydraulics and pneumatics. Fabricate, construct, install, repair, and align heavy-duty industrial equipment and machinery. Perform critical repairs to complex systems, equipment, and related features to maintain system integrity and functions. Interpret and apply required codes or standards to work situations. Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and diagrams. Prepare working sketches, drawings, and estimates of resources required for assigned projects. Repair or operate specialized equipment such as submersible pumps, speed increasers, and blowers. Coordinate equipment and system modifications or maintenance with operations and maintenance staff. Inspect, service, and maintain common and specialized tools, equipment, and vehicles. Utilize and ensure fellow staff utilize standard occupational safety practices and equipment. Maintain comprehensive records of work performed, modifications to equipment or systems, and related operations logs. Prepare periodic and special reports for management on equipment, systems, and/or facilities supported or maintained. Conduct on-the-job training of operators and maintenance staff. May inspect and lead the work of equipment operators and maintenance mechanics. Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of: Operating principles, practices, and techniques of assigned complex or specialized equipment. Operation and maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials encountered in area of assignment. Millwright, welder, plumber/fitter, and rigger trades. Hazards, safety procedures, or equipment required in the area of specialization. Codes, standards, rules, and regulations applicable to the area of work assignment. Techniques of effective communication. Skill in: Following written and oral instructions. Preparing working sketches, drawings, and estimates of resources required for assigned projects. Interpreting and applying required codes, standards, rules, and regulations. Interpreting complex blueprints, schematics, and diagrams. Maintaining documentation of activities. Conducting and coordinating specialized and on-the-job training. Observing safety and hazard procedures. Operating and maintaining tools, equipment, and materials. Communicating effectively. Minimum Requirements: Six years of mechanical maintenance experience in the fabrication, installation, or repair of large heavy-duty industrial mechanical equipment. (Relevant education from an accredited college or trade school may be substituted.) OR: Three years of experience with Pima County as a Trades Maintenance Specialist performing mechanical maintenance work. Preferred Qualifications: Possess an ADEQ grade 1 or higher in Wastewater treatment. Minimum four (4) years experience using an industrial Computerized Scada or similar program. Minimum four (4) years experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook. Minimum four (4) years experience with/knowledge of boiler and chillers troubleshooting and repair. Minimum two (2) years of experience with/knowledge of renewable gas systems.
