The Position Foresters perform professional duties in forestry, natural resource management and conservation, fire prevention and suppression, and related areas. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities required in this occupation. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (NDCNR) protects, manages, and enhances the State's resources to provide the highest quality of life for Nevada's citizens and visitors. The Department consists of the Director's Office and the following divisions and programs: Environmental Protection, Forestry, State Lands, State Parks, Water Resources, Outdoor Recreation, Natural Heritage, State Historic Preservation Office, Off-Highway Vehicles, Sagebrush Ecosystem, and the Conservation Districts Program. The Department has locations and/or provides program services in every community of the State. The Nevada Division of State Lands, Nevada Tahoe Resource Team (NTRT) is seeking a seasonal forester to assist with the management of state lands in the Tahoe Basin. The NTRT is responsible for managing 450 urban lots in the Lake Tahoe Basin. This program is an ideal position for those seeking entry-level experience in forestry. Due to the seasonal nature of the position, the NTRT is willing to work around college schedules. This position assists the program forester in planning, implementing, and completing forest health projects on urban lots and may also assist with management of contractors performing forest health projects on state lands. Responsibilities include inspecting urban lots for signs of trespass, identifying property boundaries, documenting issues of trespass, and working with team members to resolve identified issues. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work under the supervision of a Forester 2. Work will require regular travel into the Tahoe Basin, the ability to work independently, and may involve work in arduous terrain and inclement weather. This position is based out of the Bryan Building in Carson City.
