The Estimator will be responsible for supporting the delivery of project capital cost estimates determined using the latest market price for services and commodities. The Estimator will report directly to the Operations Manager who is the single point of accountability for the Pre-Construction Department. Projects vary by location across the United States, including a range between metropolitan and remote areas. Projects encompass a variety of client-types, including commercial, education, industrial, parks, and transportation. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Receive, review and analyze contractor and vendor bids as part of RFP responses. Create and manage bid opportunities and templates. Solicit, interview, qualify and track new Contractors. Present estimates to the leadership team. Demonstrate high competency of all components of the estimate, including supporting documentation used to assemble the estimate. Work with project team members to understand scope and details in development of estimates. Create and provide deliverables to meet project-specific formats. Establish and maintain cost databases and analysis tools. Understand engineering scopes, including electrical, mechanical, structural, civil, and permitting. Evaluate vendor pricing. Possess an understanding of construction means, methods, and sequences. Infer project details based on high-level conceptual scopes of work. Adjust estimates based on project specific details, including, location, local labor pool, work rate efficiencies/inefficiencies, general condition requirements, contracting requirements, local taxes, etc. Consider all aspects of costs within industry standard cost estimating references. Develop scope narratives, clarifications, and qualifications for clearly written client proposals. Review cost models, finance models, drawings and production estimates to ensure all information is aligned and accurate prior to handoff to Operations. Perform site investigation to determine project feasibility and issue subsequent report outlining constructability and logistics concerns. Review change orders to validate scope of work, quantities, rates and overall cost. QUALIFICATIONS Work experience in renewable energy construction. Experience with Engineering, Procurement, and Construct (EPC) estimates. A bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management is a plus. Strong knowledge of electrical, structural, and civil estimating divisions and principles. Strong work ethic and ability to self-start in a fast-paced environment. Strong organization, communication skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with general project finance underwriting principles and analysis. Project management, organizational, and analytical problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills. Recent experience with Utility-Scale Solar, Wind, and/or Substation/Switchyard projects. Understand project scheduling, construction means, methods and sequences.
