Mission Reeves Construction Company is looking for an experienced Plant Operator for the Reeves - Blacksburg Quarry with a previous experience in operating asphalt, concrete and/or aggregate plant. Qualified candidates will perform cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation. Duties include greasing and lubricating plant equipment, maintaining plant housekeeping, and operating plant specific equipment (Skid Steer, Manlift). Supervision Received Reports to the Quarry Manager Main Responsibilities Assist in plant operations including production Assist with preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment Must be willing to cross train in all plant areas Learn to operate plant-specific mobile equipment Perform daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintain maintenance log Follow all safety rules, regulations, and MSHA Demonstrate a positive, upbeat attitude and energy level toward others Maintain good housekeeping in areas of responsibility Ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain all plant equipment Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work night shift and overtime Proficient on a wide variety of hand tools and power tools Ability to weld, cut, and perform minor fabrication on plant preferred Ability to work in outdoor environment & in elevated areas Pro-active in safety and works well in a team Other duties as requested Position Requirements The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6-12 months' experience operating an asphalt, concrete and/or aggregate plant. Computer proficiency is a plus Ability to learn rapidly, follow directions, acquire acceptable work habits such as punctuality, skill, neatness and dependability Must be able to communicate effectively and be able to read, understand, and convey work instructions and assignments Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with little or no supervision Must be able to prioritize workload in an efficient manner Service oriented and a team player with a 'can do' attitude Must be able to climb on and off equipment to operate and service, possibly multiple times daily Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check Physical Requirements Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection Must be able to climb stairs to a height of 50 ft. and work at this height Ability to operate radio, CB radio, computer and other equipment as required Must be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around all areas of equipment Lift up to 50 lbs. to waist level and carry 20 yards Ability to use hand tools such as grease guns, shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. Working Conditions Must be able to work in noisy areas Will work in varied environments (in all weather conditions heat, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or dusty conditions) Exposure to granite, and other raw materials and various chemicals, solvents and lubricants Compensation and Benefits Competitive pay & comprehensive benefits include paid holidays, vacation, life insurance, accidental death & dismemberment insurance, group health plan options (incl. medical, dental & vision, HSA, FSA), short term disability benefits & 401(k)/401(k) Roth w/company match.
