They are currently seeking a Geotechnical Principal Engineer who will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of geotechnical engineering projects. Responsibilities include drafting technical documents, coordinating field activities, managing quality control, reviewing reports, and mentoring junior staff. Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to): Create technical proposals, estimates, plans/drawings, specifications, and reports. Perform diverse engineering analyses and computations, utilizing engineering software as appropriate. Coordinate geotechnical drilling activities and supervise field observations and studies when needed. Supervise construction quality control services, including conducting site visits and reviewing daily field reports prepared by colleagues. Assess geotechnical reports prepared by others. Maintain open communication with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams to ensure effective collaboration. Offer leadership, guidance, and supervision to junior staff members. Develop training programs for junior professionals in geotechnical engineering as necessary. Assist in advancing business development and marketing initiatives. Deliver project-specific or technical presentations to clients, technical organizations, and internal stakeholders. Actively engage in fostering relationships with clients and professional organizations. Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering. Over 10 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering, including analysis, design, and project management. Strong skills in geotechnical applications and soil-structure interaction. Familiarity with software for analyzing slopes, retaining walls, foundations, etc. Preferably experienced with soft soil and finite element modeling. Can independently assess soil conditions and make design recommendations. Familiarity with tunneling techniques is a plus. Bonus if experienced in dam-related services and leadership roles. Good at organizing technical information and writing reports. Capable of planning and managing projects effectively. Able to lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel within Michigan. A Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred. Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and PowerPoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
