Evaluates work in progress, finished goods and raw materials to ensure quality specifications are being met. Notifies appropriate personnel when defects are identified. Monitors machine operator quality checks and reports. Uses precision measuring gauges and test equipment to ensure product is within specifications. RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY: Proficient in Statistical Process Control and ensures product conforms to established standards. Completes and records line and lab quality checks using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface. Performs destructive and non-destructive testing to ensure product meets required specifications. Samples bottles and packaging components using designated sampling plans. Places nonconforming product on hold for inspection and notifies supervisor. Rejects nonconforming product. Ensures correct bottle, carton, and finished goods pallet configuration. Verifies correct scrap/reject/reinspect/recovery procedures are followed. Coordinates with customers and suppliers and completes and forwards reports as required. Maintains computer data files and word-processing files. Interprets charts generated from data files. Provides required support and training on gauges, forms, and defects to ensure assigned staff is conforming to specifications and requirements. Ensures all product in inventory meets required specifications. Functions within the team/ISO environment. Ensures all tasks are completed in accordance with Amcor PET Packaging's safety requirements. Effectively communicates with both internal and external contacts. Maintains a clean work area and performs general housekeeping duties. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
