The RAY Fellowship Program is a paid fellowship designed to equip recent college graduates with the tools, experiences, support, and community they need to become leaders in the conservation and clean energy sectors—one that, in our visions of the future, fully represents, includes, and is led by the diverse communities, perspectives, and experiences of the United States. POSITION SUMMARY The Marketing and Communications Assistant will play a role in supporting ACEEE’s externally-facing publications and projects. Their responsibilities will include assisting in the creation and implementation of marketing campaigns, content creation for various channels such as social media, website, and email newsletters, conducting market research and analysis, and monitoring and reporting on campaign performance. The assistant will collaborate with the marketing and fundraising teams to develop engaging and informative materials, including written content, graphics, and videos. They will also assist in managing social media accounts, engaging with the online community, and responding to inquiries. The assistant will have the opportunity to contribute ideas and creative solutions to enhance the visibility and impact of ACEEE’s work while gaining valuable hands-on experience in marketing and communications within the sustainability and energy efficiency sectors. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities for this role include: Showcase your communications and editing abilities: Utilize your strong writing and storytelling skills to help develop captivating marketing collateral, including one-pagers, fact sheets, infographics, and other materials. You will have the opportunity to help translate complex research into compelling narratives that will help us effectively communicate ACEEE’s findings. This position will be working with key research areas such as in industrial decarbonization, buildings efficiency, transportation, policy, and more. Amplify our research online: Collaborate with the team to update ACEEE’s website, highlighting recent research breakthroughs and successes. Help promote and conduct webinars that present our research. Craft persuasive copy: You will develop your marketing and communications skills as you help to draft compelling copy for ACEEE's social media channels, newsletters, and various other platforms to effectively share our work with a broader audience. Collaborate with diverse teams: Develop your project management skills as you work across ACEEE program teams to coordinate the development of cohesive marketing and communications materials. You will contribute to the creation, development, and publication of valuable content that aligns with our overall messaging and objectives that support impact. ADDITIONAL FELLOWSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES In addition to the responsibilities at the host institution outlined above, RAY Fellows will spend, on average, 2-4 hours per week (5-10% of work time) on the following: Actively communicating and building community with their RAY Fellow cohort and previous RAY Fellows. Meeting regularly with mentors both inside and outside the host institution. Attending monthly professional development webinars, trainings, and other opportunities to build knowledge and skills as scheduled. Developing a Personal Leadership Plan (PLP) in their 2nd year with the support of supervisor(s), mentors, RAY program staff, and their RAY Fellow cohort. The PLP will serve as a tool for self-reflection, planning, and assessing progress towards professional, personal, and leadership goals. Preparing and leading an hour-long end-of-fellowship webinar highlighting their Fellowship experience. RAY Fellows will also attend: A 3-day Orientation Retreat in late Summer 2024. A 3-day Mid-Fellowship Leadership Retreat in Fall 2025. APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY Eligible RAY Fellow applicants will: Come from a racial/ethnic background underrepresented in conservation and clean energy and demonstrate a commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Be no more than 3 years out of college and have a Bachelor's Degree by July 2024 (we are not considering individuals with graduate degrees at this time). Have not had a full-time job in conservation or clean energy. Have the ability to work in the United States and commit to the entire fellowship. SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE A college degree by the time of employment, preferably marketing, communications, business, writing, or a related field An interest in the field of conservation/clean energy [select the applicable field] Demonstrated capacity to work well and collaborate with others Effective written and verbal communication skills An eagerness to learn Marketing principles and concepts gained through academic coursework or practical experience Familiarity with digital marketing strategies and tools Experience with social media platforms and content creation Basic understanding of graphic design principles and software TERM / LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT This is a two-year, full-time fellowship (one year with a one year renewal) starting on or after July 15, 2024. COMPENSATION The Fellowship is compensated and sponsored by ACEEE, which offers a competitive benefits package as well as training and professional development opportunities. Salary is $49,000 and includes ACEEE’s generous benefits package which includes health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance coverage; a 403(b) retirement plan; transportation and bike share benefits; three weeks of vacation in the first year and four weeks thereafter.
