Overview Downtown Los Angeles architecture firm is seeking a Senior Project Architect to lead design teams on higher education projects. The firm has offices across the Bay Area, Southern California, Texas, the East Coast, and Shanghai. Located in the heart of DTLA, this firm has a great studio culture and growing Overall Responsibilities: As a licensed Architect, you'll lead design teams through the development of multiple projects or large-scale, intricate projects. This entails overseeing technical aspects, managing risk, and ensuring all technical documents are meticulously handled throughout each construction phase. Leadership Duties Act as a valuable resource across the organization, offering training, mentorship, and leading seminars. Uphold and enhance the firm's reputation as a design-focused entity. Stay abreast of technical advancements and project trends, spearheading continued education initiatives for staff. Collaborate with Principals, Project Managers, and Designers to craft compelling marketing materials and project narratives. Participate in marketing endeavors, including meetings and interviews. Represent the firm by actively engaging in external professional groups and events. Develop insightful white papers and thought leadership content for industry publications. Design Leadership Engage in exploratory discussions, define project scopes, and devise innovative concepts. Manage a diverse array of consultants, delegating tasks and providing guidance to junior staff. Offer solutions to technical challenges, review production drawings, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Oversee management tasks such as staffing, scheduling, and payment reviews, focusing primarily on technical and design refinement. Develop, design, and review production drawings and construction documents for adherence to design intent and specifications. Interface with governmental agencies and facilitate project presentations, approvals, and permits. Conduct on-site observations and generate comprehensive reports. Lead project close-out efforts, including punch lists and certificate processing. Risk Management Conduct thorough check set and risk management reviews. Maintain detailed records of design decisions and project documentation. Requirements Minimum of ten years' experience in project design and documentation, with at least five years as a Project Architect. Experience with higher education or community colleges preferred. Extensive knowledge of construction document preparation, building materials, and construction techniques. Proficiency in dealing with governmental agencies, building codes, and engineering disciplines. Strong communication and time management skills. Demonstrated expertise in sustainable practices and industry standards. Proficiency in relevant software, including Revit, 3D Studio Max, SketchUp, Rhino, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office. Degree in Architecture required; LEED AP certification preferred; California licensure preferred. Active involvement in industry organizations is advantageous.
