Job Title: Staff Geologist Location: Austin SCT - Austin, 78744 US (Primary) Category: Professional Job Type: Full-time Position: Staff Geologist Location: Austin, TX Mission/Position Description Summary: The mission of a Staff Geologist for HVJ, a leading specialty engineering firm in Texas, is to support the project manager or other staff as directed to assure client satisfaction following the applicable standards, specifications, and company guidelines. Responsibilities Include: • Performing field work including marking borings, lab testing as needed, logging behind drill rigs (ability to lift 50 lbs. and some travel and alternating shift work should be expected) • Coordinate field and/or lab assignments • Engineering analyses for shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, and settlement. • Drafting geotechnical reports for Project Manager’s review • Assisting Project Managers in Business Development Key Criteria/Requirements: • MSCE or BSCE with three to five years of directly related experience. • Registered GIT or in the process of becoming one. • Excellent written and communication skills and strong math and science skills • Valid Texas Driver License • Ability to tolerate year-round outdoor work • Ability to troubleshoot and fix testing equipment a plus • Ability to work nights and weekends sometimes traveling within Texas (as needed) • Obtain PG license within 2 years Key Accountabilities: • Utilization – The amount of time spent working on billable projects. • Timeliness/Punctuality – Meeting expected deadlines & expected working time. • Participation in Professional Organizations – One meeting a month towards PE certification/maintenance. • Career Development – Relevant In-house Training Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
