It operates as a natural gas-fired simple cycle peaking facility, designed to provide electricity during periods of high demand. The facility features nine GE Frame 7FA combustion turbines, renowned for their efficiency and reliability in power generation. Opportunity Summary The O&M Technician is responsible for performing the proper rotating shift operation and maintenance of a power generation facility. This position must have the capability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment and/or electrical equipment and instrumentation. Additionally, this position will strictly adhere to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees, public safety, and the environment. Primary Duties Assist by executing the operational and maintenance activities performed by the shift O&M personnel Work with other crew members to perform both routine and non-routine operational and maintenance activities on shift Communicate plant issues and keep the plant management informed of unusual conditions, damaged equipment, and job progress Provide guidance in the correct operation and maintenance of the power plant facility and all associated auxiliary and support equipment Make sound operating and maintenance decisions based on plant procedures, environmental regulations, and safety procedures Demonstrate general skills and knowledge with industrial equipment, electrical switchgear, instrumentation, controls systems, and operation of generating equipment Leverage the plant historian (Pi) to review and analyze data for identifying performance and/or reliability issues with plant equipment Utilize the plant computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to enter and plan work orders, generate purchase requisitions, and control inventory levels Support the Plant in the planning, scheduling, and execution of outage projects as assigned by the Lead Technician Thoroughly read, comprehend, and adhere to all regulatory procedures and programs, encompassing Safety, Environmental, and NERC requirements Demonstrate effective verbal and technical writing communication skills NAES Safe Safety is a core value of NAES, and as a condition of employment, all employees are expected to be mentally alert and work safely at all times. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, stair and ladder climbing, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, and ear protection must be worn. Work with hazardous materials may be required. All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening. Work Schedule This position requires working 7 days on twelve-hour rotating shifts with 7 days off, and the possibility of overtime, weekend, and holiday work as required. Compensation The initial hourly rate of pay will range from $35.00 to $55.00 depending on experience and qualifications. Job Qualifications Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment, as would be acquired in four years of high school. An Associate's degree or greater in a technical field is highly desirable. A minimum of two years' experience as a Power Plant Technician or relevant experience in the military or industry is required. Must successfully complete a plant OMT knowledge examination. Light to moderate experience in water chemistry control, analysis of water conditions, and chemical handling requirements is required. Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion turbine operations, industrial safety, and hazardous waste management is highly desirable. Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls required. Some working knowledge of industrial plants is desirable.
