S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Environmental Scientist - Natural Resources Project Manager to join our team in Nashville, Tennessee . About the Role: As an Environmental Scientist , supporting projects in the commercial real estate, local government, and transportation sectors in Middle Tennessee, you will perform project management and field work associated with natural resource assessments and permitting and will communicate diligently with our clients. You have a strong knowledge of the NEPA process and an understanding of federal and state environmental regulations about water resources and threatened and endangered species. Conduct fieldwork and reporting for jurisdictional waters assessment, stream quantification tool (SQT), Tennessee Rapid Assessment Methodology (TRAM), threatened and endangered species assessments, and wetland/stream mitigation support services. Prepare proposals, manage projects and budgets relating to wetlands, streams, threatened and endangered species assessments, 401/404 permitting, and wetland/stream mitigation support services. Prepare quality reports for our clients and diligently communicate findings/conclusions promptly. Support other environmental projects that may include Phase I ESAs, stormwater sampling (MS4 support services), and other activities, as necessary. Develop new client relationships and participate in business development activities that win new work and contribute to S&ME's financial success. Collaborate with S&ME's Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Services teams to successfully win and execute multi-service projects. About You: You have a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry or related field. You have 5 years of experience in wetland delineations, stream determinations, permitting, mitigation support, and endangered species assessments. You have basic technical writing skills at the college level. You have completed the basic wetland delineation training as specified by the USACE. You have completed OSHA Hazwoper 40-hour or 8-hour refresher courses. You have 2 of the following active certifications: Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) Tennessee Qualified Hydrologic Professional (QHP) Level I and/or II Erosion Protection and Sediment Control Certified Licensed Soil Scientist certification Experience with GIS and/or CAD, a plus. Are You Willing and Able to: Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as: Working with environmental exposures in a safe manner. Working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs. Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary. Working outside of normal business hours when necessary.
