Overview The Sr Director, Grid Technology is responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of the grid technology department. This includes ensuring the smooth functioning of grid infrastructure, monitoring grid performance, and implementing necessary upgrades or improvements. This role is also responsible for developing and implementing grid technology strategies to optimize grid performance and efficiency. This involves identifying new technologies and solutions that can enhance grid operations, analyzing data and trends to make informed decisions, and collaborating with other departments to align grid technology initiatives with overall business goals. The Head of Grid Technology plays a crucial role in ensuring the security and reliability of the grid infrastructure. This includes implementing robust cybersecurity measures to protect against potential threats, conducting regular audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities, and implementing contingency plans to mitigate risks and ensure uninterrupted power supply. Responsibilities Create and execute a comprehensive grid technology strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and regulatory requirements. Manage and mentor a team of technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of grid technology projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Ensure the grid operates efficiently and reliably by implementing advanced technologies and optimizing existing systems. Develop and enforce cybersecurity measures to protect the grid from potential threats. Work closely with other departments, regulatory bodies, and external partners to ensure the successful implementation of grid technologies. Manage the technology budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet strategic objectives. Ensure all grid technology initiatives comply with relevant regulations and standards. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred but not required. Experience 10-15 years of experience in grid technology roles or a related field, with demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role. Strong leadership and project management skills. A deep understanding of grid technologies and cybersecurity. Experience managing large, diverse teams and leading complex projects. Proven ability to develop and execute technology strategies. Understanding of Agile principles and methods. Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies. Ability to forge industry relationships and also influence vendor technology strategy. Ability to align IT transformation initiatives with the overall business strategy. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE) license, PMP) would be a plus. Utilities industry experience. Familiarity with smart grid technologies, renewable energy integration, and advanced data analytics, Cloud, AI and Engineering best practices.
