Through ASRC, we are a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), and we also offer 8(a) options Position Summary RSI is actively seeking a talented and experienced Field Geologist with the expertise to support projects in a complex geological environment on the Oak Ridge Reservation (ORR). The individual will implement Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)-driven subsurface investigations including the description, logging, and interpretation of borehole information, perform and direct monitoring station inspection and maintenance, and provide environmental sampling support. Experience in waste site characterization with broad experience in determining nature and extent and fate and transport of contamination is also desired. Primary Responsibilities Planning, implementation, and/or coordination of CERCLA-related subsurface investigations supporting remediation and closure under CERCLA decision documents on the ORR. Provide technical expertise, field execution, and review of geologic and hydrogeologic investigations including borehole field descriptions and logging (e.g., gINT or similar). Direct field activities supporting the maintenance of the ORR groundwater and surface water monitoring station infrastructure. Support preparation of technical documents including, but not limited to, work plans, reports, proposals, and cost estimates. Support procurement of specialty subcontractors; direct and supervise associated subcontractor work. Job Knowledge/ Qualifications Experience and knowledge of the ORR and the Department of Energy (DOE) preferred. Experience executing and/or directing field activities related to environmental regulatory requirements including CERCLA regulations and the CERCLA decision-making process. Experience and understanding of groundwater characterization and remediation, monitoring, development of conceptual site models, and groundwater fate and transport are preferred. Able to complete 40-hour HAZWOPER training Proven ability to work with a multidisciplinary team Effective written and verbal communication skills Effective problem solving skills and ability to convey lessons learned Experience in working with Federal Agencies (DOE preferred) Experience in working with State and Federal regulators preferred Ability to obtain a Q clearance Self-motivated, requiring limited direction Required Education and Experience B.S. or M.S. in related geology/earth science field and 5-7 years of experience in the responsibilities detailed. Tennessee Professional Geologist license (or ability to obtain) preferred.
