Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: Requisition 38089 : B4 Environmental Compliance Manager Job Description Primary Purpose: The Environmental Compliance Manager provides support and expertise to NS’s Environmental Group. This position will require broad familiarity with environmental regulations across all environmental media. The Environmental Compliance Manager is responsible for monitoring and maintaining NS’s environmental compliance with an eye towards continual improvement in compliance systems and programs. The position interfaces heavily with other departments and front-line environmental team members requiring an effective communicator that can build positive relationships. The position requires continuous monitoring of changes in local, state, and federal regulations and industry trends with a goal to reduce regulatory burden while maintaining compliance for the company. A highly organized candidate with a positive attitude, self-motivation and familiarity with an environmental management system (SAP preferred) and Power BI apps is preferred. Principal Duties will include all or parts of the following: Compliance & Permitting Program: The Environmental Compliance Manager should have familiarity with the rules and regulations promulgated under the Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and the Clean Air Act (CAA), and the permits and plans required by those statutes, including but not limited to storm water permits, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Facility Response Plans (FRP) and Spill Pollution Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans. Multi-media Audit Program: The Environmental Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing the NS Environmental Audit Program, including developing robust audit protocols, tracking and monitoring corrective actions, and identifying compliance trends that require operational changes or additional employee training. Environmental Training Program: The Environmental Compliance Manager is responsible for proactively leading and directing corporate wide environmental compliance training programs for NS personnel, including Pollution Prevention Teams as required under the Clean Water Act and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and Qualified Individuals (QI) who are responsible for leading spill response efforts under Facility Response Plan (FRP) and Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) programs. Pipeline Program: The Environmental Compliance manager is responsible for monitoring compliance for all NS-owned Pipelines. The manager sets pipeline priorities and maintains BMP plans and service contracts. In consort with other SMEs, they set program priorities and plan for maintenance and outages of pipelines. The director works with other stakeholders including the fueling group and sourcing to ensure NS maintains compliance and the fuel systems that deliver our fuel are robust. Applicant should have a general knowledge of PHMSA’s pipeline rules and regulations. Commodity Approvals: Review customer requests for transporting or transloading new commodities and determining proper compliance protocols or environmental controls that will be required.
