Duties & Responsibilities Some of your major responsibilities will include: Develop, document, maintain, and operate software models and databases of the orbital debris environment. Provide data analysis for measurement data in direct support of orbital debris/space object engineering models. Work closely with JETS-2 Orbital Debris Research & Science Operations (ODRSO) colleagues and NASA Orbital Debris Program Office (ODPO) customers. Present work products to customers and counterparts (written & verbal). Support and participate in technical interchange meetings. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications REQUIRED Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience. Scientific and technical leadership experience. Experience developing and implementing mathematical modeling methods and algorithms, including developing empirical models. Experience with high-level programming and analysis languages. Experience developing, verifying, and validating computer models and simulations. Demonstration of creativity, conception, vision, and personal initiative. Must meet eligibility requirements to receive and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. PREFERRED A Ph.D. in the relevant disciplines identified in Requirements. Proficiency in Fortran, MATLAB, and/or Python. Experience with orbital mechanics in near-Earth or other environments. Experience with large-scale orbital evolution simulations, including Monte Carlo simulation. Experience analyzing orbital debris measurement data. Experience with statistical analysis and data reduction, including Bayesian statistical inference. Experience with software development and maintenance, including code testing and optimization. Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team. Demonstration of strong communication skills. Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
