JOB OVERVIEW GENERAL PROGRAM SUPPORT BY THE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER Duties and responsibilities include: Designing electrical systems for buildings, machinery, and other equipment. This includes developing specifications, selecting components, and creating schematics. Developing electrical products such as electric motors, power generators, and control systems. Testing and troubleshooting electrical systems to ensure they are safe and functioning properly. Making use of various testing equipment to diagnose and fix electrical problems. Supervising the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. Overseeing the work of apprentices and other electrical engineers. Conducting research and development to discover new technologies and improving existing electrical systems and products to include renewable energy sources, electrical storage systems, and smart grids. Ensuring that all electrical systems and products comply with safety standards, including those set by regulatory agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Electric Code (NEC). Qualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Master's degree in electrical engineering is preferred. Valid, current license in the state of Illinois. Must have strong technical skills, including knowledge of circuit design, control systems, power systems, and electronics, as well as proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools. Must be able to identify and solve complex problems related to electrical systems, often working under tight deadlines and within budget constraints.
